You all know what “carcinogen” means. But do you know what a carcinologist studies? (Answer.)

  1. I suppose the connection comes from Latin, where cancer means both crab and cancer? But where does “malacostracology” come from?

  2. I just noticed “Malacostraca” means “soft shell” in Greek, so I guess that explains it. This is a class of crustaceans, including crabs and lobsters.
